Obituary of Jeanne C. Grates

Jeanne C. Grates March 15, 1946 - September 12, 2017 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jeanne was born in Minneapolis, MN to Herloff (Cy) and Martha (Dottie) Nelson. A graduate of Roosevelt High School, class of 1964. Later on, began working as a bookkeeper for the Bell Telephone Company. In 1969 she married Jeff Grates. She then moved from Minneapolis, MN to Plymouth, MN in 1974. Jeanne continued being a bookkeeper for a law firm in Wayzata, MN until her passing. Jeanne loved spending her time cheering on her grandchildren by attending many games, competitions, and concerts. No matter what event she attended she always had a big smile on her face. She loved seeing her grandchildren doing what they love. Jeanne also would take any chance she could to video chat with her grandchildren, and family, over in Denmark. Jeanne is survived by husband, Jeff; sons, Allen (Lena), Mike (Patty) and Rick (Brenda; grandchildren, Hannah, David, Madeline, Nicholas and Tori; great-grandchildren, Naya and Joshua; and many loving friends. Memorial service 10:30 am on Saturday, September 16th at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave S., Edina, MN 55435. Visitation at 9 am. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Philips School, Litchfield, MN.
