Obituary of David A. Kapanen

David A. Kapanen, 50, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 24, 2017, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle motorcycle accident near his home in rural Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota. David was born August 4, 1967. He grew up in South Saint Paul, MN, raised his family in Roberts, WI, and had recently moved to Sturgeon Lake. Dave was a free-spirited soul who lived life to its fullest. He had a colorful career, working in numerous roles including as an industrial equipment mechanic, locksmith, chemical plant operator, horticulturist, campground host, and small business owner. He will be remembered for his creativity, quirky sense of humor, appreciation of music, motorcycles, nature, and animals, and his love for his family. He is survived by his son, Garrett Kapanen (Sarah Stoll); granddaughter, Madison; mother, Ennie Kapanen; sister, Andrea Wallin (Joe); former wife, Shawn; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends. He is preceded in death by father, Deane Kapanen. Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. followed by light refreshments.
