Obituary of Grace Evelyn Kandler

Grace Kandler, 87, of Apple Valley (formerly of Woodbury, MN), passed away on Saturday Sept. 30, 2017. She was born Aug. 4, 1930, to Frank and Walberga Drilling in Cresco, IA. Grace married Robert (Bob) Kandler in St. Paul on Aug. 29, 1957, and they were married for 42 years when Bob passed away. Grace worked for decades as an RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul in obstetrics and finished her career in outpatient surgery. After retiring, she did a lot of volunteer work for her church, Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale. Grace is survived by her sister Ruth (Don) Kuhn, daughter Sandy (Dan) Chesley, son Dave (Dorie) Kandler and 3 grandsons: Blaize, Talon and Kaden. Grace's family wishes to express a special thank you to Centennial House and Ecumen Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. A Celebration Of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Atrium Room of the Heritage Center at 20110 Holyoke Ave. in Lakeville. Those attending are invited to stay, eat and visit afterward at the same location until 5 p.m.
