Linda Erickson

Obituary of Linda Erickson

Linda (Kvist) Erickson, of Superior, passed away peacefully at Benedictine Health Center on October 2, 2017. Linda was born in Trollhatten, Sweden, on December 2, 1921, to Gerda and Herbert Kvist. When she was six years old, they immigrated to the United States and settled in the International Falls, Rainy Lake area where she remained for the majority of her life. Linda loved Rainy Lake and spent as much time as possible on the lake camping, boating to Kettle Falls with her family or with her friends on the "fish boat," or just sitting by the shore reading. Linda enjoyed baking, knitting sweaters and wool socks for her family, and she had a particular passion for flower gardening, which she continued until the end. In 1950 she married George Erickson. Together they operated a general store and later a laundromat in Rainer, MN. After George's passing, she continued to operate the laundromat and also tied fishing jigs for Ric-Jig Tackle. After retiring, Linda left her beloved Rainy Lake, moving to Superior, WI to be closer to family. She enjoyed nothing more than the time she spent with her family. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Gerda and Herbert Kvist; and grandchildren, Steven Reinhard, Rena Erickson and Nicholas Doty. Survivors include children, Janet (Ray) Nagle, Benjamin (Mary Alyce) Slowe, Charles (Doreen) Erickson, Lisa (Donald) Doty and step-son, Richard (Barb) Erickson; brothers, Donald (Audrey) Kvist and Gerald Kvist; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Oct. 14th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., 218-624-5200.
