Fredrick Damkroeger

Obituary of Fredrick William Damkroeger

Bill served in the US Navy from 1955-1958, and was very proud of being the driver for the commander of the 7th fleet. After his service, he worked at the cement and steel plants in Morgan Park. He met the love of his life of 53 years, Claudette Amotozio on a blind date, and they were married in 1964. Bill worked part-time while receiving his Master's Degree in teaching at UMD. He taught at Riverside and Stowe Schools until his retirement in 1996. Teaching was his true calling and one of his greatest joys in life along with golfing. One of his happiest days was when he got his hole in one on the 9th hole at Nemadji, in 1997. Bill loved to tell jokes, and most of all he loved mowing his lawn. His two favorite hang outs were Les Birds Bar, and Tappa Keg. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Essentia 3rd, 6th, and 7th floors and Kindred Home Care. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick "Fritz" and Ione Damkroeger, II. He is survived by his wife, Claudette; two daughters, Lynn (Dale O'Brien) Damkroeger and Kristy Damkroeger; granddaughter, Macy "Punkin" O'Brien; sister, Barbara Stone and brother, Bobbie (Marianne) Damkroeger; brothers-in-law, James (Elizabeth) Nolan and Dave (Judy) Amotozio; sister in law, Sue Spicer.
