Obituary of Myron Andrew Riordan

Myron Andrew "Andy" Riordan Andrew Riordan, 84, of Duluth passed away October 8, 2017 at Diamond Willow Nursing Home in Duluth. He was born to Harland and Helen Riordan of Duluth on December 5th 1932. Andrew graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1950. At 17 years old Andrew joined the Army National Guard and worked in the construction industry. Following Andrew's service in the Army National Guard, he later continued to serve with the 148th Air National Guard where he retired after 21 years. In November 1975, Andrew married June McLain of Duluth, MN. After retirement as a local 49er, Andrew spent many years migrating to Arizona or Texas with his wife June in their motorhome. A few of Andrew's loves included attending UMD Hockey games, coaching local area youth hockey teams and working with cars. Andrew's talent for cars included building his own race cars and driving the number 66 Late Model throughout the northland from Hibbing to Ashland, WI where he raced primarily at the Proctor Speedway. When he wasn't driving around a race track, Andrew loved square dancing with his loving wife June where they danced in Arizona, Texas and Duluth for over 20 years. Andrew is survived by his wife June Riordan; his children Kristin (Steve) Henry of Duluth, Kathleen (Tim) Taylor of Bellbrook, OH, Michael (Angela) McLain of Le Sueur, MN, Catherine Archer of Duluth, MN, Patricia (Al) Rapp of Saginaw, MN, and Melanie (Dean) Schilling of Iron River, WI. He also leaves his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, October 20th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 4100 Grand Avenue in Duluth, MN with the memorial immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
