Obituary of David Leonard Gustafson

David Leonard Gustafson, 81, succumbed to respiratory and heart complications on November 12, 2022, with family at his side. He was the son of the late Leonard and Ruth Gustafson born July 1,1941 and raised in Minneapolis. He loved to be outside and enjoyed flowers, birds and animals. He felt most relaxed and free next to water, and especially in a fishing or pontoon boat.

His proudest moments were being baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1962 and later serving as an elder in the Chanhassen and Glenwood congregations.

Dave worked as a shipping and receiving manager at Log House Foods in Hopkins, MN for 34 years. He retired with Richlind Metal Fabricators in Chaska, MN. He had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his children.

His wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Gustafson, preceded him in death in 2011. Surviving him are their three children, Carrie (Ron), Tim, Matt (Mimicha) and two grandchildren, Callen and Sofia. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Gustafson and her seven children, Dawn (Jeff), Penny, Tina (Louie), Danielle (John), Matthias, Tiffany, April (Daryl) and six grandchildren, Eli, Adria, Jamie, Jonathan, Jake and Jerome. He is also survived by his cherished sister Phyllis (Mike) and his beloved cat, Cinnabon. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lou, son Dana, sister Marlene and Brother-in-law Eddie.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 850 Franklin St N, Glenwood, MN 56334 at 2pm. A luncheon and remembrance gathering will follow the service at the Senior Center, 107 Franklin St S, Glenwood until 5pm.

A Zoom link for the service will be available, please contact a family member or an elder.

Our family would like to thank Glacial Ridge Health System, Dr. Joan Lunzer, and the incredible nurses who helped navigate his end of life journey.
