Obituary of Julia Elizabeth Kessler Stephenson

Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Kessler Stephenson of Duluth, MN and Hayward, WI died peacefully in her sleep, at home, on Saturday, October 23, 2017. She will be greatly missed. Julia was born in December 1933, the second of two children by parents Freda P. and Harold N. Kessler. After graduating from Holy Rosary High School, she became certified as an X-ray Technologist, enjoying the beginning of a scientific career. She fell in love with William R.. Stephenson Jr, married him in 1954; when together they began building a family of 4 children. James N. Stephenson (Duluth,MN), Mary Elizabeth Stephenson Gale (Steamboat Springs, CO), Bradley A. Stephenson (Boulder, CO), and Jennifer A. Stephenson (Denver, CO). Joining the family are granddaughters Erica Elizabeth Gale (Maui, HI) and Anna P. Gale (Steamboat Springs). In addition to her main job of raising a family, she enjoyed playing golf with the Ladies at Northland Country Club, alpine skiing at Spirit Mountain, and volunteering with the Animal Allies of Duluth. Mom is preceded in death by her husband Bill and her brother John Kessler. Julia was a beloved friend and an especially loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who will be greatly missed by her family and all those touched by her presence. Please join us at a memorial celebration to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Cremation Society's Duluth Chapel, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN 55807.
