Richard Trombley

Obituary of Richard L. Trombley

Trombley, Richard L. August 8, 1947-October 30, 2017 A good, kind man died peacefully holding the hands of his beloved family: Judy, wife of 48 years son Brian and wife Kelly, daughter Sarah Bellis, and son Scott and wife Lisa. While his children were the loves of his life, his grandchildren: Pippa, Levi, Oliver, Nora, Sam, Ruby and Jacob brought more love, smiles, hope, and entertainment to him. He truly was the consummate husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved expanding his family to include friends of his children. He is preceded in death by parents Marcella and Leroy Trombley and survived by his 10 siblings: Mary (Bill Mord), Particia (Rich) Bullard, Margaret (Tim) Sweeney, JoAnn (Jim McSwiggun), Christine, Elaine, Jerry, Mike (Debbie), John (Julie), Andrea James and many nieces and nephews. Another love and obsession of his was his cabin that he lovingly built with help from family and friends. The cabin was his place of pride, healing, comfort and love. Dick attended Bemidji State College where his fraternity became his family. It was at Bemidji that he could become the woodsman (Paul Bunyan) and hunter that he so loved to be. He emulated John Wayne with his collection of cowboy hats which he claimed were all different and unique and loved reading western novels, watching western movies and listening to country music. While working at Minneapolis Glass, his co-workers and clients became his friends also. Another consuming passion of Dick's was his love of food! This love led to the accumulation of many smokers, grills and assorted utensils. The cooking shows will miss his attention and interest. His esophageal cancer did not dampen his interest or love of food only his inability to eat it. A Celebration of Life will be held on Nov. 9 from 4-7:00 at The Marsh (15000 Minnetonka Blvd. Minnetonka). Memorials preferred to the Angel Foundation (mnangel.org), which supports individuals and families dealing with cancer through financial aid and educational resources.
