Obituary of Doris L. Klopp

Doris L. Klopp, 92, of Duluth, died peacefully on September 11, 2018 at Ecumen Lakeshore. Doris was born in 1926, the only child of Peter and Effie Sundstrom. She married Albert Klopp on August 7, 1948 in Duluth. She was a 1943 graduate of Duluth Central. While in High School, she began working in the office as a part time secretary which led to a 45 year career as a school secretary for the Duluth School System. After retirement, she earned her AA degree from Lake Superior College. Doris was always very active. She loved to walk, ski, golf, pick berries, travel, work in her garden, and participate in the Senior Olympics. She was very proud of her Swedish Heritage and kept in close contact with many of her Swedish relatives. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard and its Deborah/Priscilla circle. Her favorite place to be was at her beloved Island Lake cabin. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; and great grandson James Klopp. She is survived by her son Michael (Debra) Klopp; grandchildren, Lara (Charlie) Ahrens, Daniel (Martha) Klopp, Peter (fiance Emily) Klopp; great-grandchildren, Dane, Peter, Sofia, Madeline, Josephine, William; and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Ecumen Memory Care for their compassionate care of Doris over the years. Visitation: 10:00 am until the 11:00 am memorial service, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard, 325 N. 45th Ave. E, Duluth, MN.
