Obituary of Donald J. Miller

Donald “Don” J. Miller, of Onamia, MN passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on November 4, 2017 at the age of 67, while on a trip with friends for hunting opener at the deer camp in Randall, MN. Don is survived by his wife, Linda Miller; children Michaeljon (Mindy) Miller, and Christopher (Val) Miller; grandchildren, Ashley (Rich) Kremer, Caitlyn, Gunnar, Otto, and Hildegarde; and siblings Diane Miller and Arlene Rahoutis. Don is preceded in death by his parents George and Josephine Miller, and his brother, Joseph Miller. Don was born on January 11, 1950 in Waconia, MN. He graduated from Waconia High School in 1968. Don joined together in marriage with Linda in 1982. He spent many years working for the Bureau of Engraving as an engineer while living in Brooklyn Center, MN. After moving to the home in Onamia, MN that he lovingly built with his own hands, Don began working for Fournier Trucking as a manager. Over 35 years, Don has been a loving husband and father, imparting to his sons and grandchildren his many amazing technical skills and encouraging and supporting them in the pursuit of their goals. Don was accomplished at woodworking and carpentry, and will be remembered through his beautifully crafted furniture and household woodworking. He was a kind and dedicated individual, who was passionate about hunting, fishing, and travel, and who always made time for a visit with friends and family, as “a short visit is better than no visit.”
