Obituary of Marilyn Mary Bakken

Bakken (Wynn), Marilyn Mary Age 85 of Mpls. On August 16, 2018 God called Marilyn away from her loving family to begin her next journey. When Marilyn entered hospice, she was blessed with four months to visit with many family and friends. Marilyn was a Mpls native, and graduated from St. Margaret’s Academy (1951). She first met the love of her life, Lars, when she was just 13 years old and married him seven years later. Together, they began creating the foundation for what would become a loving and supportive life and family. Marilyn recently celebrated 65 years of marriage to her wonderful and generous husband. Marilyn was the glue for her family and set a beautiful example for what it means to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a source of comfort for many and provided endless amounts of love, support, wisdom, beautiful artwork and wonderful food. Marilyn built a strong family and circle of friends and created many wonderful memories with her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Preceded in death by parents and 2 siblings. Survived by her husband, Lars; children, Lars (Sharon), Jeffrey, Julie (David), Kristine (Mike), Eric (Mickey) and James; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, August 23rd, 2:00 pm with visitation 1:00 pm at Church of the Holy Name, 3637 11th Avenue South, Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Church of the Holy Name or Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Mpls. Special thanks to all the Allina Hospice Care Team (especially Katie and Mary), the staff at Baywood Home Care (especially Sokope) and her caring team of doctors at ANGMA (Drs. Lund, Blanchard and Bakken).
