Obituary of Mark Anthony Winning

Mark Anthony Winning, 65, of Byron MN, passed away unexpectedly while vacationing in Denver, CO on Friday evening, November 17, 2017. Mark was born May 9, 1952 in Fargo North Dakota to Lester and Amy Winning. He was a graduate of Cooperstown High School in 1970. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND and his Master’s degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Most recently he worked at the Mayo Clinic in the I.T. department and looked forward to retiring in the next year. Mark married Janet Brandt in 1985. Together they had one son, Anthony Alexander in 1989 whom now lives in the Denver area. Mark and Janet divorced in 2013. Mark was passionate about UND hockey (GO SOUX!). Other interests included gardening, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. In recent years he enjoyed attending UND hockey games and travel with his partner Lisa Sifferath. Mark is survived by his son, Anthony (Alex); his partner, Lisa Sifferath; his three brothers: Terry (Linda), Lester Jr. ”Butch” and Richard (Eileen); sister-in-law, Carol Winning; mother of his son, Janet Winning and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Amy Winning and infant brother. The family requests memorials to be made to 'The Nature Conservancy' in his name in lieu of flowers.
