Jack Schuck

Obituary of Jack Wendell Schuck

Jack Wendell Schuck, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Oct 26 2022.  He was 90 years old.

If your one wish was to be raised in a family with parents who loved each other, a home that was warm and caring, a platform where learning was encouraged and failing was embraced as an opportunity, and success was celebrated ..you’d hope to land in Minnetonka with Jack as your father. He was a US Air Force Captain, engineer, patent holder, was wildly good at math, and loved little animals.

Dad cared deeply for his family in the role of father, grandfather, husband, teacher, handyman, and friend.  He loved playing the traditional role and being the go-to guy on any issue especially if there was a cabin to build, a car to fix, a house to maintain, math lessons to teach, or skiing to learn, and he was a stable presence where we all felt safe and well cared for.

He had a brilliantly dry sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye that confirmed you’d been caught in the joke.  Dad was our hero, mentor, and quietly reliable scaffolding.  As a family we skied, traveled the world, ate homemade ice-cream, lit fireworks, learned languages. We sailed, played at the cabin, hunted, met at the dinner table, observed his love for mom, respected one another, and took pride in a father who happily supported us.  We will miss his eager willingness to help, sense of humor, sympathy, and valuable advice. We love you dad.

Jack was preceded in death by parents, Wendell and Lucile and his loving wife Florence Mary.

He is survived by his three children; Sandy, Scott and Suzi (Eric), his grandchildren; Breanna, Kevin, Taylor (Eureka), Kyle, Jacob, and his great-grandchild, Lachlan.

To honor Jack’s love of blue jeans (and not having to dress up) the family requests guests wear jeans to his memorial service.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a tribute donation in Jack's name to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org
