Mary Mowery

Obituary of Mary Beth Mowery

Born on May 8th, 1951, Mary Mowery was born to parents Margaret and Charles Buckarma.  She was called home to God on August 27th, 2022.  Devoted Grandma, Mother and dear friend to all who had the honor of meeting her.

Mary was born in Fond Du Lac WI.  Where she spent many years at her father’s candy factory, her mother’s kitchen cooking the most delicious Lebanese food and cookies and playing with her brothers Michael Buckarma, David Buckarma and Shawn Buckarma.

Mary moved with her family to Minnesota where she worked for Anoka County in the Child Protection unit for 20 years. She was known as someone who always would make you smile and laugh amongst her co-workers.  And quite the practical joker. All jokes aside Mary had many other talents and spent much of her time crafting designing purses, totes and pillow coverings to name a few.

Mary’s most cherished moments were spent with her family.  She was a beloved Grandma who lived with her daughter Linda and husband William Koch, grandson Brady and granddaughter Lizzie for 17 years.  Creating special memories for her Grandchildren.  Pancakes with chocolate chips, cookies and the best cold lunches any grandchild could ask for.  Mary’s Daughter Melissa and Husband Brian Michael were always nearby, and their son Simon was the recipient of so much love from his grandma. Mary’s favorite past time was watching videos of Simon.  Every evening asking Melissa, “Tell me what Simon did cute today.”

Throughout her life Mary battled many illnesses.  Her doctors coined her a walking miracle.  Mary’s cases were published in medical journals as she was a bit of a medical mystery.  She met her suffering with grace, dignity and tenacity.  She was fighter and she would often say, “It will get better it always does.” Mary had a way of living. She lived for her family. She lived so she could love us all one more day. If you had the opportunity to meet her, you would walk away feeling that authentic love a gift given to her by God.

Mary’s mantra was: Just be nice to people, and that is truly who she was.  She will be greatly missed.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Cowboy Jacks in Apple Valley, MN on November 5th.  Starting at 3pm until 6pm.  All who knew her and loved her are welcome.
