Obituary of Larry Joseph Fontaine

Larry Joseph Fontaine died peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017 at Superior Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Superior, WI. Larry was born on March 22.1940 to Ernest and Lydia (Cote) Fontaine in Bottineau, North Dakota. Larry moved with his family from North Dakota to Proctor, MN in the early 1950's and graduated from Proctor High Scholl in 1959. Larry worked as a Carman for the BNSF Railroad retiring in May 2000. He loved all sports but excelled in bowling and golf. He enjoyed watching both the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings win or lose. Larry was a Veteran having served in Germany during the early 1960's Larry was preceded in death by his father Ernest. Larry is survived by his mother Lydia of Proctor, brother Greg of Duluth, sisters Mary (George Fasteland) Saburn of Duluth, Barb (Bob) Shovien of Florida, Kathy Johanson of Iowa, Kim (Steve) Maida of Duluth and many nieces and nephews as well as several special aunts and many cousins. Larry's family would like to extend a gratitude of thanks to the staff at Superior Rehabilitation for the care they had given to him. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Cremation Society of MN in Duluth, MN located at 4100 Grand Avenue from 2-4 pm on Tuesday December 5, 2017.
