Obituary of Duane Darrell Blake

Duane Darrell Blake, 91, of Edina, MN passed away September 28, 2022 at Friendship Village of Bloomington while under the care of Grace Hospice.

Duane was born October 2, 1930, in Atlantic, IA and then moved to Council Bluffs, IA where he graduated from high school. He then continued on to the University of Omaha. Shortly after graduating in 1952 he married Norma (McElwain) Blake. They moved to Edina in 1960 where he continued to work as a manager at Northwestern Bell until he retired in 1989. Duane was involved with his church, the Masons, Shriners, Sottish Rite, Army Reserves and politics. He was a past president and board member at the Braemar Golf Course and enjoyed woodworking at the Edina Woodshop.

He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Joseph) Kirst; grandchildren Beau (Maren) Blake and Gia Blake; and many other family and friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Mabel (Odem) Blake; his wife Norma Blake in 2018; son Robert Blake in March 2022; sister Dianne (Arthur) Sieck; and brother Ronald (Margaret) Blake.
