Obituary of James Bianchi
James T. Bianchi, 59, of Hermantown, MN passed away on Sept. 16, 2022.
Jim was born Sept. 27, 1962 to Art and LaVonne Bianchi. He grew up in Rochester, MN and spent quality time at the family’s cabin in Wabasha, along the banks of the Mississippi River. He graduated from UW-Stout in Menomonie, WI with a bachelor’s degree in Technology Education.
Jim and Mary married in 1986 and settled down in Hermantown, MN. They welcomed their first child, Anthony James, in 1991, and their second child, Nicholas Patrick, in 1994. He devoted his life to teaching others, both formally and informally. Those who knew Jim will confirm, he could fix, hunt, or catch anything. After 35 years of teaching, Jim retired from Superior Senior High School in Superior, WI.
Being the ultimate outdoor enthusiast, Jim thoroughly enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, trapping, 4-wheeling, and snowmobiling. He brought friends and family along on endless adventures and those memories on the lakes, rivers, and trails will be fondly remembered.
Jim was always busy and lived life in the fast lane! He was passionate about his family and friends and was generous with his time. He was very active in the local snowmobile clubs and the Trap Shooting team at Superior High School. A giant of a man in heart, spirit, mind and love, Jim will be wholeheartedly missed by his wife, children, family, friends, and fur-babies, Issy and Bella. Jim was especially proud of his children, Tony and Nick and their many accomplishments.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Art and LaVonne Bianchi, father in law, Pat Span, and sister-in-law, Barbara (Span) Reese.
Jim is survived by wife Mary Bianchi, son Tony Bianchi (Bri Hraban), son Nick Bianchi, brother Joe (Penny) Bianchi, sister Denise (Brian) Sylvester, sister Diane (Dana) McManus, and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a very large circle of friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Duluth. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 21 from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to Jim’s local snowmobile clubs: Duluth Drift Toppers and Hermantown Night Riders.
