Obituary of Thomas R. Galligan

Thomas R. "Dick" Galligan, 79, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017. He was born Dec. 22, 1937 to Tom and Mary Galligan in Ashland. Dick graduated from Ondossagon High School and completed the Farming short course at UW-Madison. He married Carol Blahnik on June 11,1960. Dick had two passions; his family and farming. He resided on and operated the family farm with his brother and nephews until 2010. Due to health issues, he and Carol moved to Duluth in 2011, residing at Keystone Bluffs for the past five years. Dick always talked about getting well enough to "get on the tractor again." Dick was active in the community, serving on Midland Services and AMPI Board of Directors, as well as being Supervisor for the Town of Barksdale. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake and St. James Catholic churches. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, Sunday drives and Packer football. He is survived by his wife Carol Galligan; son Tim Galligan; daughters Kathy Galligan and Patty (Joe) Rich; grandchildren Eric Larson, Elizabeth Sokolich, Hannah Galligan, A.J Galligan, Nathan Ginter, and Dustin Rich; great granddaughter Erin Rustad; sister Sue Fischer and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. James Catholic Church located at 715 N. 57th Ave. W. Duluth, Minn. Visitation is at 10 a.m., Mass at 11a.m. and lunch to follow.
