Obituary of Shirley Ann Henke

Shirley Ann Henke (nee Miner) Age 92, Farmington, MN, died November 27, 2017 with family at her bedside. Shirley was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Winnebago, MN. Her parents were Mae and Robert (Bob) Miner, Winnebago, MN. Shirley graduated from Winnebago Highschool. On April 3, 1944, Shirley was united in marriage to Harland Henke of Blue Earth, MN. Shirley & Harland lived in Blue Earth, Albert Lea and Farmington, MN. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents and granddaughters Amy Goodman, Melissa Mae Chaney (Henke), grandson Nathanial James Henke, sisters Margery (Roy) Albertson and Roberta (Les) Oscarson and brothers Amer (Connie) Miner and Arnold Miner. Survivors include children Sharon Goodman, Farmington, MN, Jill Devanney (Richard), Warrenton, VA, and Jack (Cindy) Henke of Saginaw, MN. She is survived by grandchildren Sheri Goodman (Richard Bennett), Ashley Henke, Jenna Devanney and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are Shirley’s sister, Darlene (Jess) Roberts, Northfield, MN, and Duane (Karen) Miner of Brooklyn Park, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley endured the final years of her life with courage, dignity and her “Miner” sense of humor. A celebration of Shirley’s life and a light lunch will be served at the Empire Public Works Building, 2577 Vermillion River Trail Road, Farmington, MN, on December 15, 2017, from 1100 until 1300. Burial will follow at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, MN. No formal services will be held as Shirley requested “make it short and snappy!”
