Obituary of Winston Keith Mattson
Winston (Winnie) Keith Mattson passed away peacefully at home in Ramsey Minnesota on July 4, 2022 at the age of 72 after a 2 year battle with liver cancer he died of kidney failure.
Winston was born January 22, 1950 as the youngest child of George and Anna Mattson. His mother died when he was 4 years old and was raised by his father and older sibling. He was drafted by the Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam until March 1971. Married Donna November of that year and they had two children Justin and Jacqueline (Jacqui) . Winston worked several jobs before he started with Anoka County where he worked his way up to Building Maintenance Superintendent. He retired in 2010 to enjoy his family, friends and hobbies. Winston was very talented and kept himself busy with hunting, fishing, cooking, sewing, welding, car body work, mechanical, jigsaw puzzles, cutting wood and more. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do or try. He was very happy to spend time with friends and family always laughing and poking fun.
Winston is survived by his wife Donna (of 50 years) and their children: Justin Mattson (his clone), Jacqui (his best friend, hunting and fishing buddy) her husband Dean Ronallo. Grandchildren: Cole Ronallo, Carter Ronallo, Ashley Mattson, Connor Mattson Great Grandchildren: Amariya Mattson, Deonte (Steve) Mattson Siblings: Morris (Cathy) Mattson, Sisters Rozanne Gronseth, Ginger (Jim) Stadther, Bernie (Al) Ideker, Brother-in-Law Howard Tjosaas, Jeanine (Gaylon) Iverson, Jane (Stan) Olson.
Winston is predeceased by his parents George and Annabelle Mattson, Brother Bruce Mattson, Brother-in-Law Howard Gronseth, Sister Boni Tjosaas and Sister Viki Mattson.
Winston was in the hospital and then home before he died and was visited and called by so many family and friends who were able to share their love and laughter in his last days. Winston loved it and all of you.
Winston will be buried at Fort Snelling and his family invites all family and friends to his Celebration of Life on September 16th at Elk River American Legion, 525 Railroad Drive, Elk River, Minnesota from 3:30 to 7:30.
