Mary Jean Elizabeth (Arend) Wright

Our beloved Mother, age 95 of Maplewood, passed away August 19, 2022. Her Alzheimer’s long road has ended, & she earned her reward. Though a huge part of her was lost to Alzheimer’s, she kept her spirit showing her love for her family. Her smiles & sense of humor will be missed by many. Mom was always happy, caring, & generous. She was adventurous & so vital, & so fun. She loved dancing, playing bridge, golf, travel, & always up for a good time. She played bridge for nearly 60 years & golfed until age 89. She also loved going to the casino, & of course happy hour! God bless our Mom. You are home and we will miss you.

Mary Jean was born on August 26, 1926, in St. Paul, & attended St. Mark’s Catholic School, & St. Paul Central High School. She was active for several years at Merriam Park Community Center receiving an award for her time & dedication. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart for many years. She is preceded in death by husband, William H. Wright; sisters, Phyllis & Louise; & parents. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (James) Holmberg, Kathryn (Alan) Joles, Mary Beth (Steven) Thoresen, & Kristine (Mark) Brown, & wonderful grandchildren, Sharon (Bradley), John (Katie), Scott (Delci), Kristine (Adam), William, Robert, Joseph, Stacey, Callie & Anthony; great-grandchildren Brady, Rylan, Connor, Lillian, Maisie, & Emma, & many nieces & nephews.

Visitation is Tuesday, August 30, 10am, Mass at 11am, lunch 12-1pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 380 E Roselawn Ave, Maplewood, MN. Private burial Ft Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
