Obituary of Scott Donald Peters
Peters, Scott Donald
Age 72 passed away July 29, 2022 at home after a courageous fight with prostate cancer. He was born December 19, 1949. Scott grew up in Deephaven and graduated from Minnetonka High School then he received his bachelor’s degree from Saint Cloud State University.
Scott was a story teller and had an incredible memory for all things, especially history. You could ask him any question and he usually knew the answer. Scott and his wife Mary loved to travel and they especially enjoyed meeting people, hearing their stories and exploring where ever they visited. They had many adventures and their many travels only added to his knowledge and more stories. Scott, always looking dapper in his various blazers, made friends everywhere he went! Besides travel he loved golf, playing cards with his friends, drinking bud in a bottle, enjoying wine (and an occasional Manhattan), and overseeing the neighborhood from his beloved front terrace. Everyone was welcome and if you walked by, he always welcomed you to come up and join him. Scott was generous, funny and he loved entertaining.
His family and friends were an important part of Scott’s life and he was lucky to see many of them after he came home from the hospital. He loved his grandchildren and attended plays, sporting events and many other activities they were in. Scott and Mary frequently traveled to the west coast to see the grandchildren in their various activities and they were able to attend the Bloomington grandchildren’s activities as well. Scott enjoyed traveling with his mother and going out to visit his sister Jules and brother-in-law Ed in New Hampshire.
He and Mary lived in an incredible neighborhood. The neighbors created a loving family community and they were there the last few days of his life to help him sit on the terrace and care for him. Scott was the life of Ewing Avenue and he will be missed.
Scott owned Peters Business Forms in St. Peter. He loved and valued the relationships he had with his customers and vendors. They were more than customers to Scott; they were his friends. Scott took pride in solving his customer’s problems and delivering the personal attention only Scott could do!
In June Scott was enrolled in a Phase One Clinical Trial for Prostate cancer. It was a new Car-T Cell therapy and he was the 7th person in the world to be enrolled. He always said if it was not successful for him that he hoped it would help someone else in the future. That is what we hope for as well. We’d like to thank his oncologist Stuart Bloom and his primary care physician, Tod Worner for the incredible care and love they gave Scott over the years. They made a difference in his life and in our lives as well.
He is preceded in death by his father Harry. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Mary Grina, daughters Jennifer Maren (Pete Simmons), Elizabeth (Glenn) Goodman, Kristen (Steve) Meek, and four beautiful grandchildren
(Sydney and Dylan Meek; Jacob and Katelyn Goodman), his mother Helen Peters, sister Jules (Ed) Robinson and brother Clevenger Peters. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in the fall.
