Obituary of Jean Frances Lorenz Peterson
Jean Frances Lorenz Peterson, 81, of Esko, MN passed away on December 7, 2017.
Jean was born on October 17, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois.
She met her husband, Richard, through a friend and corresponded while he served in the Korean War. They were united in marriage on May 21, 1955 and resided in Duluth, MN, until their move to Esko, MN in 1964. During their years together, they went on many trips. They drove to Alaska three times and whitewater rafted down the Colorado River though the Grand Canyon and visited 10 countries in Europe. Jean was able to travel to see all the bear species of the world.
She worked as a secretary at Health Systems Agency and Bethany Crisis Center, where she met and kept many long lasting friendships. She was a wicked Scrabble player and enjoyed the game Jeopardy and movie dates. The cabin was a very special place for her.
Jean was known for her love of life and laughter and adventurous spirit. She has a circle of friends that is incredible in depth and breadth.
Jean is preceded in death by her son, Rick (Richard Robert Peterson, Jr.), her brother Charles Lorenz, her sister Joan Culbertson and her father Herbert Lorenz.
She is survived by her husband Dick, her daughter Karen Zeisler, and her daughter Sharon Peterson (Denny Sullivan). She had five grandchildren Hannah Lende (Brandon Lende), Emily Warner (Sam Warner), Eric Peterson (Jennifer Bergk-Peterson), Evan Peterson, and Lauren Peterson (Michael Sanders) and four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Elsie, Griffin and Alexander and her dog Max.
Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, December 12th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth, MN 55807.
