Obituary of William Robert Lamb

William (Bill) Robert Lamb, 91, of Bemidji, MN, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji. Bill Lamb was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 29, 1926 to Andrew and Cameola (Burns) Lamb. He lived in St. Louis until the age of 8 before moving with his family to Evanston, IL in 1934. Bill graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, New York) in 1946. Prior to graduation, Midshipman Lamb served a tour of duty aboard a U.S. Merchant Marine ship from August 1944 until March 1945. Between July 1946 and June 1947, he served as a 3rd Officer/Mate on several ships in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Bill joined the U.S. Navy as an Ensign in June of 1948. He then graduated from University of Illinois in 1950 with a B.S. in Economics and History. He served in the U.S. Navy until December 1952, rising to the rank of Lieutenant (J.G.). Bill married Ann (Richards) Lamb in 1953. While Ann focused on raising their children and teaching music Bill founded a successful management consulting firm, W.R. Lamb and Associates, that provided workforce and inventory efficiency solutions to grocery and drug store chains nationwide. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Ann (1985), sons Andrew (1953) and Robert (2014), sisters Suzanne (1970), Virginia (2011) and Joan (2016). He is survived by daughters Peggy (Bill) and Suzie (Ignace). He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren Martha, Meg, William (Melissa) and Annabelle and will be greatly missed by all. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
