Obituary of Betty Ann Freier

Our Matriarch Betty “Betty Boop” Ann (Wek) Freier, 94, peacefully passed away on July 6th, 2022 of natural causes with her family by her side.  Betty was born on October 7th, 1927 to Adolph and Josephine Wek in Duluth, MN. She worked at UMD as a cashier for many years and then as a lunch lady for ISD 709 for several years.

In 1977, Betty, Bill and son Mark moved out to Colorado. During this time they built three homes including their dream home with gorgeous views of Pikes Peak. While in Colorado Betty worked at Teller County title company. In 1987 they moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years Bill Freier, three sisters, two brothers and several really good friends.

She is survived by her children, Patti (Daryl) Barber, Karen (Louis) Baxton and Mark Freier. Grandchildren, Brian (Angel) Waters, Brenda (Greg) Pluntz, Beth (Mark) Peterson, Robert (Christine) Baxton, Kevin (Nicole) Baxton, Jennifer (Michael) Herrick, 10 great-grandkids and 8 great-great-grandkids. Sister-in-law, Beverly Hart, niece Chris Jewell and special friend Marilyn Lundquist.

Betty was a feisty, hard working woman her whole life and had the biggest heart for her family and friends.

Betty’s wishes were no funeral services but the family will be having a celebration of life at a later date.
