Obituary of Derek Daniel Unzen

Derek Daniel Unzen, age 19, from Apple Valley. Born on Valentine's Day, 1998 and passed away from suicide on December 17, 2017. Preceded in death by Great-Grandma Ore aunt; Barb Puppe, and cousins; Josh Puppe and Nathan Ore. Survived by his parents; Chris and Brenda, brothers; Jeff and Andrew (Ashley Bedlow), sister; Alysa, Grandparents; Judy Puppe, Bonnie and Ray Unzen, many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Derek graduated from East View High School in Apple Valley. Derek was involved in Boy Scouts and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs on long hikes and camping. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, December 23rd at Cremation Society of Minnesota - St. Paul, 1979 Old Hudson Rd., St. Paul, MN 55119. Gathering from 1:00-2:00PM with Celebration of Life to follow. For his celebration please wear jeans, T-shirt or blaze orange camouflage. His burial will follow at 10:00 AM, December 26, 2017 at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, 2105 Lexington Ave. S., Mendota Heights, MN 55120. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
