Obituary of Charles Rodger Schaub

Charles Rodger Schaub Jr of Duluth passed away at home on August 22, 2018 with loved ones by his side. Charlie was a wonderful husband, father, & grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and taking long drives with his wife. He had a mischievous sense of humor which brought many smiles to those around him. He was born in Mpls MN to Charles Sr. and Susan (Gomilak) Schaub. After high school, he met the love of his life, Kathleen (Murphy). They were married December 29th, 1962. Shortly after his service in the Coast Guard ended, Charlie and Kathy moved permanently to Duluth where he became a local businessman. He owned Artcraft Displays, the Tannenbaum Shop and CRS Enterprises. He created holiday lighting, animated and firework displays, along with providing services for trade shows and conventions throughout the area. Year after year he built award winning parade floats for the Christmas City of the North Parade along with other parades in the Midwest. When his kids were younger, Charlie was active with Eastern Little League Baseball as a coach, equipment manager and board member and he was Cubmaster for Pack 7 Cub Scouts. In his later years, Charlie enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sports and extra-curriculars. Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; children, Chuck (Kerry), Bill, Kelly (Jim) Rathe, Kris (Michael) Anderson, Tom (Belinda), Joe (Nicole), Mike, Kara (Tom) Farell; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings Susan (Jack) Nagel, Mike Schaub; sister-in-law Edie (Larry) Jaerger; and many loved nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 15th at the Cremation Society of MN 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. Visitation at 2pm with the service starting at 3pm (luncheon following). A special thank you to Dr. Mollen at the VA in Superior and to all the St. Luke's staff whom he enjoyed tormenting over the years.
