Obituary of Jean Marie Smith

Beloved Mother and Grandmother; Strong, Independent Woman; Master Social Planner

Born on April 10, 1943 and passed away peacefully at her home in Cottage Grove, Minnesota on July 11, 2022

Jean never waited for life to come to her; she created her life in the way she wanted. She was always on the go with a full social calendar that included floating on her air mattress, going to garage sales, celebrating every family and friend birthday, or arranging a card party. Her children will be forever grateful for the care she provided, the life lessons she taught, and the role model she was.

Jean is survived by five children and partners: Gary (Julie) Dalton, Jim (Jeanette) Dalton, Denise Johnson (Greg LaBelle), Donna Dalton (Jeff Brower), and April (Steve) Braun; her ten grandchildren: Sara, Kaitlynn, Rachel (Eric), Mikayla (Trevor), Aaron (Kaitlyn), Mitchell (Kiera), Matthew, Amelia, Emma and Mason; one great grandchild: Connor; and most favorite of all, her dog, Ivy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church, 8694 80th St S, Cottage Grove; with visitation from 9:00 – 11 a.m. at the Church. Luncheon to follow.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Minnesota.
