Obituary of Virginia Sue Pieren

Virginia Sue Pieren passed away on Thursday, December 28th, 2017. Sue was surrounded by her loved ones and passed away peacefully. Sue was born to Virginia and Lowell Hartley on May 1st, 1947. Sue was the second oldest of 6 siblings. Sue was blessed to travel the world due to her father serving in the Air Force. Sue and her family eventually settled down in Duluth, MN. Sue graduated from Central High School and married her high school sweetheart Dennis Engen. After giving life to two beautiful children, Debbie and Craig, Sue and Dennis went their separate ways. Sue remarried the love of her life, George Pieren. Sue and George created a lifetime of memories and stories for their children and grandchildren to come. Sue worked as a nurse until her retirement in 2011. She was a beautiful artist and a master quilter. Sue is survived by her daughter, Debbie Nelson; her son, Craig (Kristin) Engen; 5 grandchildren, Justin, Anthony, Adriann, Raquel, and Theron; 1 great grandchild, Taydan; brothers, John (Vickie), Frank, Chuck (Diane) & Paul; and her sister, Becky; and many adopted loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband, George; her sister, Kay; and her parents, Virginia and Lowell. Celebration of Life: 1-3 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2017 at The Hampton Inn, 310 Canal Park Dr., Duluth, MN.
