Obituary of Allen Jeffrey Loen
Allen Jeffrey Loen, 77, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services were held at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson, Saturday, July 9, at 11:00 AM. A visitation began at 9:00 AM. Burial was at Our Redeemers Lutheran church cemetery, following the service. Lunch was held following the burial at the Allen and Diane Loen Farm.
Allen Jeffrey Loen was born February 10, 1945 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Stanley and Alice (Atchison) Loen. He was called from this life Tuesday morning, June 28, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family and a hospice nurse.
Allen Was baptized April 8, 1945 at our saviors Lutheran Church in Benson. He was confirmed November 6, 1968 at Our Redeemers Lutheran church by Rev. Harold Nasheim. He graduated from Benson high school in 1963. He joined the army national guard in 1965 and was honorably discharged July 9, 1971.
February 25, 1968, Allen was united in marriage to Diane Marie Svingen at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church by Rev. Melvin Sucher. To this union, two daughters and one son were born. Together Allen and Diane were able to share in 54 years of marriage.
Allen was a successful farmer for more than 50 years. In earlier years, he also worked for the Pioneer telephone company and Swift Co-op Oil board of directors, and the Putts and Purrs Antique Tractor Club, the Lions Club, and the Northern Lights Snowmobile Club. As a youth, Allen enjoyed 4-H and as an adult he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, water sports, church and city league softball, bowling, card playing, watching western shows and he looked forward to deer hunting every year.
He fiercely loved spending time with his family – especially with his grandchildren.
Allen is survived by his wife Diane, two daughters: Juanita (Nathan) Lagred of North Mankato, Chillon (Bill) Mckibbin of Alexandria; five grandchildren: Malia, Donovan, and Gracia Lagred, and Kaelyn and Grahm Mckibbin; sisters: Connie (Tim) Kavannaugh of Brainerd, Sandy grendahl of prior Lake, Dian (Dewayne) Melberg of Farwell, Patty Carlson of Glenwood and Colleen (Dave) Johnsrud of Starbuck, close friend Rob Lee and family; and many relatives and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his son of four days, Reid Loen, by his parents, Stanley and Alice Loen, a sister baby girl Loen and a brother Bruce Loen.
Many will remember Allen for his sarcasm, quick wit and strong-will.
