Obituary of Georgiana Sampson

Our beloved Georgie, age 92, of Morningside passed on Sunday morning, December 31, 2017. She was at peace in her home of 64 years, surrounded by loved ones. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana March 8, 1925 to Helen and Carroll Gilger, she was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, computer pioneer Don Sampson. She is survived by children Katherine McGovern, Susan Wiesner, Lawrence Wiesner, William Richard Wiesner and Carolyn (Doug) Kraft, close friend Nan Reid, sister Carolyn Donnelly, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a close-knit group of neighborhood friends who were like family to Georgie. We will gather to celebrate Georgie's wit, fierce spirit, sharp mind and loving heart on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 1pm to 3 pm at Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave South in Edina.
