Obituary of Phyllis Blackwood

Our mother Phyllis Blackwood, 75, of Superior, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2018 after a courageous fight with scleroderma. Phyllis was born September 5, 1942 in Duluth, where she grew up. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who spent her life caring for others and putting her children and grandchildren's needs before her own. She worked many years in the nursing field as a compassionate caregiver. Phyllis treasured her time with her family, especially at her family's cabin on Prairie Lake. Her infectious laugh and beautiful singing voice will be forever missed by all who knew her. Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ gives us comfort that she is with her Savior. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard and Dorothy Blackwood; brother, Howard Blackwood; sisters-in-law Eileen Blackwood and Lois Blackwood. She is survived by her children Jennifer (Scott) Marshall and William (Lindsay) Braman III; 5 grandchildren, Leah, Tanner, Billy, Bree, Brock; 1 great grandchild Landon; siblings David Blackwood, Michael Blackwood, Robert Blackwood, Mary (Steve) Engel, Nancy (Henry) Ptasnik; devoted special friends Diane Hansen and Marilyn Keeler. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth, MN with a visitation one hour prior.
