Obituary of Carol Jane Boyd

Carol Jane Boyd, age 77, passed away surrounded by family after a short illness on May 24, 2022.

Carol was born to James and Marjorie (Parker) Ceplecha on May 18, 1945. She attended Northfield schools and graduated from Randolph High School. She was married to Donald (Donnie) Boyd for 25 years and they raised one daughter, Cindy. Carol attended the University of Minnesota earning a Master of Education degree with honors. Carol was a beloved and respected teacher with the Farmington School District for 31 years. She loved bumping into former students and being updated on their lives. Many students kept in touch with her long after graduation. Carol loved to teach and tutored for many years after retirement.

Carol enjoyed reading, puzzles, and knitting. She spent many hours in her garden and enjoyed visiting with people who stopped to take pictures of her flowers as they walked the park path. She loved to entertain and was always researching and testing new recipes for her get togethers. She enjoyed spending time with her friends in Arizona each winter, playing Mah Jong, Saturday morning coffee, and birthday club celebrations. Her family was always her focus, and she cherished her grandkids, daughter and son-in-law. We will miss her influence, sense of humor, and of course, her daily weather reports.

Carol is survived by daughter, Cindy; son-in-law, Denis Tonsager; and grandchildren, Cory and Tracy Tonsager.

Honoring Carol’s wishes of no wake or funeral, a private family service will be held.
