Obituary of Clancy Dennis Finnegan

Our amazing fighter and hero went to Heaven peacefully on May 10, 2022 at the age of 53, surrounded by his loving family. Clancy was born and raised in West St. Paul. The youngest of 7 children and twin to his sister, Bridget. 1987 graduate of Henry Sibley High School and 1992 graduate of Mankato State University. Clancy married Karen Stacken on June 12, 1993. Their union was blessed with two wonderful sons.

Clancy began his career at the Center for Youth Employment and Training. His passion for working with the youth led him to St. Paul Public schools as a truancy educator. He later took a position with MnDOT as a prevailing wage investigator and supervisor. His colleagues appreciated his work ethic and attention to detail.

Clancy enjoyed seeing people happy and having fun! He loved organizing events and hosting parties, such as his annual poker and derby gatherings.  He held many patio parties around his ice bar, no matter the temperature. All who attended had a great time, Clancy made sure of that!

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and playing. He played and coached on a softball team for 30 years, affectionately referred to as “The Loserz”, as well as participating in a 35+ men’s baseball league.

Clancy taught us how to face challenges with a positive attitude and a sense of humor. His selfless approach and determination to not worry others were reflected in his text message updates, which always ended in “All is Good”.

Clancy is preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Lu; father & mother-in-law, Charlie and Phyllis Stacken. He is survived by his devoted loving wife, Karen; sons, Ryan (Leigh) and Andrew along with our special family cat, Malley; siblings, Kathy (George) Kuzelka, Peggy (Dave), Shawn (Michelle), Casey (Linda), Maureen (Jeff) Wilke, Bridget (Bill) Schwandt and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
