Obituary of Lois Ellen Borg

Lois Ellen (Haurunen) Borg, age 85, of Beaver Bay, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation in Duluth. She was born November 21, 1932 in Virginia, MN to Arvid and Elsie (Tuomiranta) Haurunen. On August 6, 1955 Lois married Paul A. Borg. She joined Paul in Berlin, Germany and worked for an Army Intelligence Unit until Paul was discharged from the Army in 1957. Lois was a 1950 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Virginia, MN and received a Bachelor Degree from St. Cloud State. She taught school in Wisconsin and Minnesota, retiring from Roseville District 623 in 1988. Lois was a member of the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay, the Fleetwood Travel Club (formerly the Avion Travel Club), and the Lois Club in the Silver Bay area and Duluth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and Elsie (Tuomiranta) Haurunen and a brother, Walter Haurunen. Lois is survived by her loving husband, Paul; sons, Von (Karen) Borg and Wade (Deb) Borg: grandchildren, Danielle (Evan) Johnson and Jeremy Borg; great-grandson, Isaac Johnson: her sister, Gail (Barry Tomsich) Nelson and brother, Arvid (Jane) Haurunen, Jr. Gathering of family and friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service Friday, January 12th at the United Protestant Church, 17 Horn Blvd., Silver Bay. Burial arrangements will be made at a later date for immediate family members. Memorials preferred to United Protestant Church, Silver Bay, MN.
