Vernon Olsen

Obituary of Vernon Paul Olsen

Olsen, Vernon P. age 92, of St. Louis Park died April 4, 2022. He is survived by son, Richard (Lei Lu & Jessica); daughter, Susan (Kerry) Adelman; grandchildren, Scot Olsen-Morales & Robin Loftin Leonard; and siblings, Elaine, Ruby and Dick. Preceded in death by loving wife of over 60 years, Rosalia “Sally” Olsen; daughter, Roxanne (Gary) Leonard; parents, Bernice & Paul Olsen; sister, Geraldine and infant brother, Reynold.

Vern was quiet by nature, but always had a friendly smile, kind word or witty remark. He excelled at problem solving, earning awards and respect at work. He was the most supportive, caring husband, dad and grandpa, always lending his help and encouragement with unconditional love and gentle teasing. His “dad super powers” were his humble charm, inventive smarts, great hugs and endearing impish streak. He was a proud (and stubborn) Norwegian that loved chocolate and tending to his flower gardens.

He and his wife Sally were a loving, inseparable team, and over the years, made many friends that shared their passion for travel, bridge, square dancing, golf and good conversation. Their faith was always important to them and they gladly shared their talents and energy to support their church. While living in St. Louis Park, Vern was honored to serve as an usher and as part of the collection counting team at their church for many years.
