Obituary of Robert J. Rutt
Robert Rutt of Edina, MN passed away on April 14, 2022 at the age of 95 years. Bob was born May 11, 1926. He graduation from Montgomery MN High School May 1944. He entered the U.S. Navy on June 5th, 1944 and trained at Coronado, CA with the U.S. Naval Amphibious Forces. He served in the Central Pacific during WWII, visiting Hawaii, Eniwetok, Guam, and Saipan, with landings at Okinawa and Marcus Island. He was a teacher and counselor in the Minneapolis Public School System and retired in 1983 after 32 years of service. He was a longtime member of P.O.L.K. of A., the American Legion Post 435 in Richfield, MN and a life member of VFW Post 1296 in Bloomington, MN. Bob was an ardent dancer of ballroom and old time music, who learned the waltz and two step at age 14.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Cecilia, sisters; Dorothy Herman and Janiece Stanek, and wife Margery. He is survived by sons; Gregory (Cheryl), Michael (Carla), Paul (Roxann), grandchildren; Jennifer(Drew) Hammond, Erik Rutt, Blake Rutt, great-grand children; Hadley and Harper Hammond.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on May18th at 1:30 pm. Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held on May 18th from 2:30-5pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota/First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 7110 France Ave., Edina, MN.
