Obituary of James Rolland Olson

Born in Duluth on Feb. 27, 1933, Jim died April 11, 2022, with family at his side. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret “Mickey” Milne Olson, who died in 2015. He is survived by their children Michael (Julie Arthur), Kelly, Belinda (Steve) Barta and Patrick (Lauri), as well as nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Jim was definitely one of a kind. He left school in 10th grade and went on to be a carpenter, locksmith, mechanic, and a gunsmith. Jim could build or fix anything. He and Mickey also started a small business called Jim’s Wooden Toy Shop, and they used the extra money they made for motorcycle trips. Words can’t express the gratitude and thanks to son Kelly for his unfailing devotion and care of both parents for many years.
