Obituary of John Sponsler

Peacefully, and surrounded by his family, John Sponsler passed away at his home on April 26, 2022  at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Sponsler (Dunn) his daughter Deborah Swanson, granddaughter Victoria Swanson and great granddaughter Sasha Swanson

John was blessed with a large and loving family and left an amazing legacy. He will be dearly missed by his children: Connie (Andres), Steven (Joan), Tony (Tonnette), Terri, Rebecca, Jeffery (Nancy),  Gina (Scott), and lovingly remembered by  22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous friends and relatives. 

John Sponsler touched the lives of many.  The longer you knew him, the more you realized how remarkable of a man he was, how remarkable a servant, how devoted to his family, how loyal to his friends, how available he was to those who needed help, and how faithful he was to God.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 9, at Berean Baptist Church, 309 E. County Road 42, Burnsville, MN, 55306. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm, Funeral service at 2:30 pm, followed by a reception. 

He will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Military Honors on June 2, 2022.
