Celebration of Life Service

Tasveer “Tassie” (Sankar) Mohabir

·        Tasveer (Tassie) Mohabir of Vreed-En-Hoop, Guyana passed into the next life peacefully on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, at the age of 53. She is survived by her Husband Jack and beautiful daughter, Shivani, and the Sankars: Sisters- Anarkali and Jayanti (Azad), and Brothers- Amrit, (Sunita, Jessie, Shaleenie) and Sanjay (Indi, Tiffany, Mark) as well as the Mohabirs: Eileen (Ram, Joe, Melissa), Marina (Anne, Ken), Eunice, Errol (Sabo, Ajay, Bibi), Shari (Keith), Devika (Rilwan, Simone) and Steve (Teresa, Patrick, Anna).

·        Tassie lived in the Twin Cities, MN with her Husband, Jack Mohabir, and her daughter who was the brightest star in her life, Shivani Mohabir. Tassie was born in Guyana in 1968, to her “Mommy”, Elvey Ankama Agnes Sankar, and her “Daddy”, Lall Sankar. She grew up with two sisters, Anarkali and Jayanti Sankar and two brothers, Amrit and Sanjay Sankar. Tassie was an amazing person with incredible talents which was heavily influenced by her great family.

·        Tassie was the Daughter, Sister, Wife, and Mother of our dreams, who we loved more with each passing day. There was no other like Tassie, nor could there ever be.

·        Tassie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to Bollywood music, gardening, kickboxing, and making others laugh. As a multi-talented Superwoman, she was an incredible dancer, yoga enthusiast with strong creative expression reflected in extraordinary food, art, and clothing. She was dedicated to being the best version of herself she could possibly be, daily. Tassie had the ability to do anything she put her mind to and make it beyond beautiful.

·        Tassie was the most kind, wise, strong, loving, considerate, and caring person and was never shy at showing or telling anyone how much they meant to her. She would do anything for the ones she loved without hesitation.

·        Tassie worked at Armstrong High School as the Secretary of the Alternative School. She went above and beyond the job requirements to cultivate strong relationships and support systems for all students. Tassie brought joy and laughter to the classroom, supporting her students to achieve their target goal to graduate and achieve their dreams. Tassie created a safe space to talk about anything and everything so students would congregate around her desk, sitting next to her when completing their homework. She assumed the role of second mother to many students while parents readily supported her tough love attitude and approach with kids.

·        Her physical presence will be deeply missed and felt forever, yet she will always be guiding us. She will always be on our minds and is the love of our lives for eternity. May she rest in peace and surprise us with signs that she is always with us. Thank you for blessing us with your love and presence.

·        A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00AM CDT. Friday, May 6th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota located at 7835 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Park, MN 55445. (763-220-0018). Masks are required per the request of the family, thank you.

·        In lieu of flowers, please feel free honor Tassie via a donation to these great organizations (or others you are engaged with) who support youth education and underserved community needs, thank you:
