It's hard to grasp--the loss of someone who was here for so many years. 92. The void that leaves. Bud was part of my childhood, teenage and college years. His name is confluent with art and family holidays.
He influenced my love of art and my career path. He was there for birthday parties, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, high school dances (when dad was too tired). He was "out at the lake" on Eastern Shore with us while we ran and screamed, jumped in the water, warmed up on our towels, and started all over again. We saw him every time we visited Grammy (his mother). He partied with the "grownups" at Grammy Matthiessen's house across the street. He attended my MCAD graduation and my wedding. I remember the day he gave Mary a car for her birthday. The pun contest he won. The fun times with Niffer.
When I was about three, I loved it when he came by to visit us on Hillcrest, just so I could yell, "Buddiiieeeee!"
I just know that when his time had passed, everyone up in heaven was peeking over a cloud, welcoming him, yelling, "Buddiiieeee!"
