I'm so saddened to hear of the passing of my old friend Jerry Hoover. I met Jerry as a young lad purchasing popcorn from his wagon in Canal Park, where I would ride my bike most summer days on my way to park point and back from my downtown Duluth home (later driving and stopping). I had almost daily conversations with Jerry at his wagon in canal park as a kid and teenager, and later in the Holiday Center in Duluth. He was such a kind and caring man with a smile always on his face. You could really tell he was doing what he loved. Reading his obituary (posted here), I had no idea of his military service, but that holds true for many of our Veterans, in that those experiences are kept silent and close. RIP Jerry, thank you for the conversation and the best popcorn in the world.
