Obituary of Alexia Cecelia Person
Person, (Monahan) Alexia Cecelia (Al), caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, beloved aunt and friend passed away peacefully, January 14, 2022 at the age of 90 1/2 at Sunrise of Minnetonka in Minnetonka, MN. Under the wonderful care of Sunrise Staff and Park Nicolette Hospice.
Alexia was born on July 14, 1931 to John and Mathilda Monahan in Eden Valley, MN. She grew up in Webster, WI. Where she graduated from Webster High class of 1948. Moving to Minneapolis after graduation for work and to be near family.
Alexia was united in marriage to Jim Person on October 30, 1954. They were blessed with 4 children. Together they made their home in Hutchinson, MN until 1962 when they moved to Willmar and raised the family. She was an avid member of St. Mary’s Church, where she enjoyed volunteering with the Daughters of Isabella. She also enjoyed the Does and the Eagles Auxilliary’s. She joined the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, when she moved to Bloomington after Jim’s passing in 2001. After the children were grown Alexia continued her education. She was very proud of her knowledge of ASL, and graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1989 with a BA in Social Work.
She loved to travel and never traveled too far without a good pair of shoes and a matching purse. Her many trips included, Canada, Germany, Ireland and Iceland. Alexia adored spending time with her multigenerational family and learning about the history of her roots.
Preceded in death by husband Jim, infant daughter, Rita, parents and siblings.
Survived by son Steven (Linda) Person, Hawick, MN, daughters, Sheila (Tom) Glancy, Woodbury, MN, Sharon (Don) Rauenhorst Bloomington, MN. Grandchildren: Chris (Diana) Person, Zach (Brittany) Person, New London, MN, Brian (Abbi) Glancy, Oak Park Heights, MN, Katie Glancy, Woodbury, MN, Cyndi Rauenhorst (Stefanie), Kevin Rauenhorst, Patrick (PJ) Rauenhorst, Bloomington, MN. Great-Grandchildren: Blake and Taylor Person, Morgan, Harley and Becket Glancy and many, many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at 11:00 AM, visitation for 1 hour prior to the service at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, in Hutchinson, MN with Burial at Saint Anastasia Cemetery.
