Obituary of Richard Ira Vargason
Richard Ira Vargason, age 75, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Survived by wife, Sherilyn Vargason, son Jeffrey (Annette), daughter Kristen Fox (David) , and grandchildren Allyson, Natalie, Christopher Fox, and Elyse, Linnea Vargason. Sister-in-law Lori Dykstra, brother-in-law Richard Haldorson, brother-in-law Dave Lent. Nieces and nephews, Suzanne Hughes, Lisa Glander, Falinda Brewington, Brent Haldorson, Ryan Lent, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Sanford and Wilma Vargason, and sister, Sandra Vargason of Pocatello, Idaho.
Rich graduated from Aberdeen High School, Aberdeen, Idaho, in 1965. Graduated from Evangel University, Springfield, MI, in 1970 where he met Sherry Haldorson. Rich and Sherry were married in 1968, rejoicing in 53 years of marriage. Rich was employed with Traveler’s Insurance, and spent 20 years in Salt Lake City as Assistant Manager with Traveler’s. He moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota, in 1998. Later, he was a substitute teacher in Anoka Hennepin School District until 2020. Rich loved working with teenagers and sharing all of his acquired knowledge. He served at his church, Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park, as Youth greeter, encourager, grandpa, and friend. He loved the Lord with all his heart and served with gladness. Rich loved the outdoors, hunting, and spending time at the “cabin” with the guys.
Celebration Service will be at Emmanuel Christian Center, 7777 University Ave. N, Spring Lake Park, on Monday, March 21, visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm. Your love and support is priceless to Rich’s family.
