Obituary of Joyce Chiquita Perry

Joyce (Palan) Perry, 81 of Hammond, WI passed away peacefully with family present on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born on October 3, 1940 in Dundas, MN to Francis and Chiquita (Thielbar) Palan. Joyce married the love of her life, Francis Perry, on October 3, 1958. Early in their marriage, Joyce worked at Schejeldahl Corporation in Northfield making Skyhook balloons. She transitioned to providing childcare in their home after having kids. Fran and Joyce rented their first farm in Northfield in 1967 and then purchased a 420 acre dairy farm near Glenwood City, Wisconsin in 1971. They worked side by side on the farm and watched their kids grow into adults.

In 1990, they built a home in Hammond, Wisconsin, and settled into small town living – close to kids, grandkids, and the golf course. Joyce earned an Administrative Assistant degree in 1991 from WITC in New Richmond and quickly found a position at 3M. She was well known for her writing and editing skills which were essential to her role supporting research units at 3M and later at Imation. Joyce received several awards for her attention to detail and excellence at work. She retired in 2005.

Joyce loved walking, biking and visiting with anyone that she met along the way. Her hobbies included golfing, snowmobiling, biking, camping and traveling. She was an amazing cook, an avid reader, and valued education and hard work. She had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. Most of all, she loved spending time with family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Francis, parents, Francis and Chiquita Palan, siblings, Edward, Bonnie, and by many brothers and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her children: Gordon (Heidi) Perry, Gregory Perry, Kim (David) Ball, and Gene (Denise) Perry; her sisters Jean Jerik and Barb Prigge; thirteen grandchildren: Shannon Perry, Benjamin Perry, Holly (Tony) Bloom, Casey Perry, Tia (Andrew) Gardner, Tyler Perry, Christine Perry, Tim Perry, Jacob (Marin) Ball, Dayna Ball, Melinda Perry, Stephanie (Matthew) Thompson, and Summer Perry;
