Obituary of Carol Elizabeth Galligan
Carol Elizabeth Galligan, 83, passed away at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center on January 26th, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 15th,1938 to Ralph and Lucille Blahnik in Ashland. Carol graduated from DePadua High school and went on and trained to be an x-ray technician. She worked at the Washburn Hospital. She married Thomas “Dick” Galligan on June 11th, 1960.
Carol and Dick raised 3 children on the family daily farm. She was a loving mother who made every effort to go to her kids and grandkids school activities and sports. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics and the Ice Capades. She volunteered at the Thrift Shop, usually with her granddaughter Elizabeth in tow. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake and St. James Catholic churches.
After Dick passed away in 2017, Carol moved into Chris Jensen. She made many friends there and liked Bingo, church services, but most of all the time spent when her family came to visit. She made the local news last year on her 83rd birthday when her kids had a fish fry in a fish house in the parking lot of the nursing home.
She is survived by her son Tim (Wendy) Galligan; daughters Kathy Galligan and Patty (Joe) Rich; grandchildren Eric Larson, Elizabeth Sokolich, Hannah Galligan, A.J Galligan, Nate Ginter, and Dustin Rich; great-granddaughter Erin Rustad; sister Nancy Blahnik and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday Feb. 12th at Our Lady of the Lake Church. Visitation is at 10:00, Mass at 11:00 and burial to follow.
