Obituary of Donald Lee Jolson
Donald Lee Jolson, passed away on January 13th, 2022, at the age of 58. Don was born February 9th, 1963, in Minneapolis MN. Preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Virginia Jolson. Survived by former wife Nicolette, his children; Anthony, Jessica (Marco), and Timothy, his sibling's; David (Shohreh), Dale (Carol Kost), Daryl (Susan), Darla (Paul) Schelitzche, Diane (Steven) Voss; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. As well as his fur babies Niko, Kira, and his grand fur baby Loki all 3 Siberian Huskies who were dear to Don.
Don was a commercial painter by trade but an overall handyman by nature. Don took great pride in his work and his perfectionism showed in every project he did whether he was painting, renovating homes, or building his family’s log cabin from scratch on Big Sandy Lake. Don was a jack of all trades who was always quick to help anyone who needed it, from neighbors to friends and family. People who called him for his plethora of knowledge usually ended up with him at their front door ready to lend a helping hand.
Saying Donny loved to talk is an absolute understatement, this man was a social butterfly who could talk for hours with anyone and always had a story to tell. Don was a massive movie/tv buff is also an understatement, he was a walking encyclopedia of film and actor information. Always updating his loved ones on the latest and greatest film or tv show. He also loved to watch and talk about all Minnesota sports teams whether it was college or professional. He coached his three children in youth Hockey, Baseball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Don also enjoyed skiing, rollerblading around lake Nokomis, puzzling with Nicki, listening and whistling to rock music, any trivia game, taking long family road trips across country, and spending time up north at the family’s log cabin. Don will be forever remembered and dearly missed.
In this difficult time it gives us comfort to know that Don is now painting his biggest canvass yet, perfecting every sunset and sunrise in the sky.
Don will be cremated and his ashes planted with a tree at his family cabin. A celebration of Don’s life will be held later this spring/summer 2022. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
