Obituary of Paul Dennis Witsoe

Paul Dennis Witsoe, age 78 of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota passed away on January 17, 2022 while surrounded by his family.

Paul was born in Seattle, Washington on April 6, 1943. At 2 months old, his family moved to Minneapolis. Paul was confirmed at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1961 and attended the University of Minnesota along with his high school sweetheart and wife to be Carol Tanner. Paul fathered three daughters whom he and Carol loved to take fishing and camping. For 34 years, Paul worked as a Produce Manager for Country Club Market until his retirement. He then pursued his love of campers by becoming a sales specialist for Hilltop Trailer Sales and Minneapolis Trailer.

Paul’s love of 1950/1960's music and cars, attending ‘Back to the 50’s’ car show with family, visiting Ellingson Car Museum, completing the NYT crossword, and collecting coins has been passed along to his children and grandchildren.

Paul is preceded in death by parents Joseph and Sophia (Prottengeier) Witsoe, aunts Freida Schuhmacher, Augusta ‘Gussie’ Prottengeier, Minnie Neuman, Bertha Prottengeier, uncle Henry Prottengeier, son in law Stephen Simmons, as well as many cousins and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife (Carol), daughters Deborah (Ken) Rost, Cheryl Witsoe, Laura (Tom) Minnihan, brother David (Audrey) Witsoe. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica, Aaron (Annie), Kevan, Kathryn, Alexxis (Derek), Joshua, Stephanie, Emma (Max), Abby and his 4 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Kyla, Wyatt and Brooklyn.

His corny jokes, always ready smile, and willingness to help anyone will be sorely missed and remembered by all.

Paul is at rest and peace at home in Heaven.

A celebration of Paul’s life is planned for later in the spring. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
