Rev. Lowe “Bob” died January 17th in hospice care at Episcopal Homes in St, Paul following years of kidney cancer.
He is survived by his sister Elaine Scheibner, his brother David, also by a nephew and neice and his nephew’s three children.
After graduating from Wilson High School in St. Paul, Bob majored in Speech and Theater at Hamline University. He grew his talents in Prof. Jim Carlson’s theater productions and also by singing under Prof. Robert Holiday’s direction in the acapella choir.
During his 20s, Bob completed military service in the Navy followed by several years of hospital work in the Boston area.
After his time out East, he enrolled in Iliff School of Theology (class of 1985). He followed in the footsteps of his father Dr. Ernest Lowe and grandfather Rev. John Lowe by becoming a United Methodist minister.
Over his years of ministry, Bob served Minnesota parishes in Mazeppa (as a Hamline student), Hill City / Swatara, Duluth (Norton Park, Riverview, and Woodland), St. Paul (Wheelock Pkwy. and Central Park), Morris, and ending his ministry in Long Prairie / Grey Eagle.
Bob is remembered for his good humor, his warm-hearted stories, and his beautiful singing. He often sang with the choir while conducting services. Sometimes he sang as part of a sermon. He loved serving people. Love was the driving force of his ministry.
